![]() The Kasino Fever's cab was four 12" Altec Lansing speakers with a large "horn" driver directly above. They owned the stage as much as Marshall stacks and Ludwig or Rogers drum kits. A heavy solid wood cab with a 15" woofer in the bottom half and a huge "horn" driver directly above. The audience loved it!Īt this point I should ask if anyone here remembers the huge stacks of PA speakers that were the go to of outdoor concerts in the '60s and '70s. A true onboard "plate" reverb, (which I used to use to create "thunder" or "an explosion" by bumping the head while I was playing). A built in "boost" that could adjust the gain without effecting the volume and controlled by an included wah wah like rocker foot switch. A 200 watt RMS head on top of a very special large cab. A lot of bread when compared to what a solid state amps price range finally settled at. The Fever was the top of the line amp made by Kasino. The reason this article, and the picture of a Kasino amp hit me so hard was because, although tube amps have been the holy grail of amp tone for my entire life, the one amp I purchased and held onto for near 30 years was a Kasino Fever. This died out in the late '70s and didn't find another period of popularity until Dimebag and Randall got together. Believe it or not, solid state amps were the rage in the early to mid '70s. This is the same time period of the best of Acoustic Control Corp solid state amps as used by Frank Marino during his heyday. The Little Joe was a mid size solid state amp for that time period, ('72 to around '77). If you liked the sound of Kustom but couldn't stomach the Tuck & Roll vibe Kasino was your alternative. The amp on the opening page of the feature and discussed further in the article was a Kasino. ![]() ![]() They had a feature on six solid state amps from the past. I was surprised when I checked out the latest addition of Premier Guitar. ![]()
